During their meeting Tuesday, Anderson County Council approved third reading on two ordinances addressing issues related to growth and development.
One added a new section to the Code of Ordinances to provide for riparian buffers. Riparian Buffers promote public health by protecting private and public drinking water supplies from non-point source contaminants, including sediment, chemicals, pollutants, and nutrients. They also support natural resources by enhancing wildlife habitat, including wildlife corridors, fisheries, and the quality of water bodies; prevent and control flooding, storm damage, and erosion.
The second added a new section to provide for foundation surveys under certain circumstances, to determine that property lines, set-backs, buffers, and easements are properly observed in location of the foundation for a structure.
Foundation surveys will be required for all new building projects and projects which include additional square footage above previously permitted amounts which as proposed will encroach within ten (10) feet of any building setback lines (front, rear, or side), buffers, easements, and rights-of-way. The ordinance also states a foundation survey may be required at the discretion of the building official.
Second reading was held on a ground lease agreement between Anderson County and RJ Hanger Exchange, LLC for location of a new aircraft hangar at the Anderson Regional Airport.
Council approved first reading on transfer of property owned by Anderson County located on Michelin Boulevard to TCTC Foundation, LLC.
Council also approved a resolution authorizing a fee in lieu of tax and special source credit agreement with Gray Industrial Realty 7.
Council approved a resolution consenting to partial assignment and assumption of three fee in lieu of tax agreements with RAO Real Estate LLC and SP Orian LLC.
