An armed robbery suspect is in custody after he crashed into an Anderson County homeowner’s garage on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened after the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the ACSO Fugitive Investigative Unit to detain the wanted armed robbery suspect who lives in the Belton area.
Deputies were able to track down the suspect but when he spotted law enforcement he sped off, blew off a stop sign, hit a tree and drove straight into a front yard, hitting and damaging a detached garage along Broadway Lake Road in Belton.
The suspect car was stolen and the South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
The suspect, Dequanzia Hawkins, 22, was taken to Greenville County where his initial charges stem from.
Hawkins is facing charges in Anderson County for Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, two counts of Receiving Stolen Goods and Resisting Arrest after he took off from law enforcement in a stolen car.
