The 15th Annual Saluda River Rally was held Saturday, June 7 at Dolly Cooper Park in Powdersville. The event was held in conjunction with Powdersville’s Rhythm on the River.
The Saluda River Rally is a fun, relaxing paddling event for people of all ages and abilities that showcases a section of the Saluda River and serves as a fund raiser for Anderson County Special Olympics Area 14.
Paddlers enter the river at Dolly Cooper Park and travel 9 miles downstream to Piedmont. Participants and their boats are then shuttled back to Dolly Cooper Park.
Upon returning to Dolly Cooper participants were welcomed and encouraged to stay around from 1 pm – 8 pm for live music, food trucks, local crafters and family-friendly activities at the 4th Annual AnMed Rhythm on the River presented by Anderson County and Connect Powdersville.
Kathy Schofield, “The Saluda River Rally provides funding for over 700 athletes. Area 14- Anderson County Special Olympics hosts 11 year-round sports, state swim competitions, local Spring Games, and attends four out-of-town State competitions. The SRR demonstrates the passion this community and Anderson County has for their local Special Olympics athletes.”
