West Pelzer Town Council recently recognized WSPA 7 news for their Zip Trip show which visited the town. West Pelzer to purchase generator; recognizes TV show
During their July 22 meeting, West Pelzer Town Council approved the purchase of a generator for storm preparedness and a resolution of Appreciation of Recognition by WSPA 7 news – Zip Trip.
West Pelzer Clerk Paula Payton told Council that a 2025 PARD grant recommendation to the Anderson County Legislative Delegation had been postponed to the ACLD meeting in December.
Payton announced that the WSPA TV News 7 Zip Trip feature on West Pelzer will air on August 1 at 5 am. A National Night Out event is planned for Tuesday, Aug. 5.
West Pelzer Police Chief Zachary Owen reported that the Department had 169 Calls for Service; 77 Traffic Stops,; 77 Tickets/Warrants; 2 Warnings; 8 Reports and 201 Citizen Contacts.
The TV news station recently visited West Pelzer to showcase positive achievements and progress in the Town. The segment highlights efforts of Town elected Officials, staff, community members, business owners to improve the quality of life for residents.
The resolution states the recognition “will help to share the story or our community’s hard work, collaboration, and dedication, bringing positive attention to our town.”
It also recognized that West Pelzer wishes to express its gratitude to WSPA 7News for its dedication to covering local stories that matter to the residents of Upstate South Carolina and the Town of West Pelzer, and for its role in supporting transparency, community pride, and the sharing of good news.
Council approved a resolution authorizing the purchase of a standby generator for the O’Dell Community building, ensuring the facility can remain open and serve as the operations facility for the municipal center and police department during extended power outages. The resolution authorizes up to $16,000 for the purchase.
