The Town of Pelzer will have three council seats and the mayor’s seat open. Seats for Councilmembers Mike Matthews and Donna Ide are up for this election. Also the unexpired council term is the result of the recent resignation by Councilman Cruz West.

Pelzer Mayor Will Ragland recently stated that he will complete his current term as mayor but does not intend to run for reelection.

In Pelzer, books are open through Friday for any candidate who intends to run for one of two at-large council seats and to fill an unexpired term for an at-large council seat. The mayor’s seat is also open. The filing fee for town council is $25. Filing fee for Mayor is $50.

For potential candidates, the Statement of Intention of Candidacy (SIC) form is required for filing and is available in the “Candidate Information” section of scVOTES.gov and at is both West Pelzer and Pelzer Town Halls, which are where potential candidates sign up.
Candidates are also required to file a Statement of Economic Interests and a Campaign Disclosure online with the State Ethics Commission at http://ethics.sc.gov. Failure to file these documents may result in a candidate fine but will not disqualify a candidate from the election. Contact the State Ethics Commission for more information.
