A former school board member, deputy and school safety director is facing additional child sexual abuse charges.
Anderson County Sheriff’s Detectives charged Gregg Hayden, 48, last Thursday with two additional counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor, as well as two counts of Misconduct in Office.
This comes after the retired deputy was arrested on August 7 for similar child abuse charges.
An ongoing investigation now shows two additional men were victimized by Hayden’s inappropriate actions during his time as a School Resource Officer nearly 20 years ago.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, two then teenage boys were abused, one during the 2004 school year and the other in the 2005 school year as students within Anderson School District One. Hayden served as an SRO at Wren High School during that time.
“The Criminal Investigations Division credits these victims for coming forward and is hopeful to secure justice for these crimes that continue to haunt them several years later. Detectives encourage any other victims to come forward,” ACSO Sheriff Chad McBride said.
On August 7, it was announced that Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Detectives charged Hayden with Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Third Degree and Attempted Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor Second Degree after an interaction at the end of July.
