Palmetto football player recovering
A Palmetto High football player was injured during a high school football game in Iva Friday night and was flown by helicopter to Prisma Hospital.
Offensive and defensive lineman Eli Jordan, a junior at Palmettto, went down in the third quarter of the game between the Palmetto Mustangs and Crescent Tigers. The AnMed Med Trans LifeFlight helicopter was called in and landed on the field to transport Jordan to Prisma Hospital in Greenville. Officials at the hospital initially said his CT scan came back clear and his neck was good. He was able to move his head, arms and legs.
In a second update, Eli was eating and talking.
In a statement sent out by Anderson School District One on Saturday, Jordan’s parents said, “We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and calls. Eli has bounced back this morning. He is able to talk and move his arms and legs. He is eating and the doctors are going to observe him. We appreciate the support from everyone at Palmetto High School, including the coaches and school administration, as well as everyone who has reached out. At this time, we ask for privacy as we focus on Eli’s recovery.”
Later Saturday his family said he was discharged to rest and recover. They said he has several appointments over the next week.
