Don Davis, Jay Avants, Chad McClain, Patricia (Pat) Smith Loveland, Ralph Jones

Ralph Jones

Ralph Odell Jones of Belton, 85, husband of Barbara Ann Simpson Jones, passed away Monday, August 25, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Robert Alton and Annie Elizabeth Harris Jones. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and retired from M.L. Garrett Construction. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by daughters, Andrea Denise Farrow of Piedmont and Amy Stephanie Smith of Belton; and one grandchild.

Visitation was held August 28 at Riverside Baptist Church, Belton. The service followed in the church. Burial was at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

Patricia (Pat) Smith Loveland

Patricia (Pat) Smith Loveland, 77, died peacefully with her daughter, son-in-law (Glenn), and grandchildren on Saturday, August 30th, 2025.

Born in Anderson, South Carolina on February 21st, 1948, to Dendy and Sadie Smith of Pelzer, South Carolina. Pat married Leon Young, of Pelzer, South Carolina, in December of 1964. They had two children together, Eddie and Rhonda, before they divorced in 1980. She retired from Bosch and has lived with her daughter in Pelzer, South Carolina since 2015.

Pat is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Horne (Glenn) of Pelzer; brother, Tommy Smith of Easley; three grandchildren, Christain, Cameron (Maddie), and Kelsey (Brenden); six great grandchildren: Declan, Dalayna, Winston, Oliver, Everett, and Maelyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings: Bobby Joe, Peggy, Rachel, and Kathy. She is also preceded in death by her son, Eddie Young.

The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 5th, 2025 at Oak Pointe Church located at 8649 Augusta Rd, Pelzer, South Carolina. Service will be at 5:00pm with Pastor Mike Morris to officiate. Family is gathering at her daughter’s home in Pelzer.

Chad McClain

Bunyon Chad McClain of Williamston, 51, husband of Tonya Bowen McClain, died Thursday, August 28, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of Bunyon Ray McClain and Frances Turner McKee. He was a supervisor at Verdeco in Piedmont and member of Pelzer Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Christopher Logan Bryant and Steven Chase Green; daughter, Bethany Green; sister, Sharon Swilling; and four grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 3, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Jay Avants

Hoyt Jay Avants of Belton, 76, husband of Judy Ann Thompson Avants, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Hoyt Howard and Ruby Boone Freeman. He was adopted and raised by the late John R. and Irene D. Avants. He retired from Michelin and was a member of Daventon Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Michael Jay Avants and Andrew Charles Avants; two grandchildren; and sisters, Euline Jackson and Pat Bishop.

The family received friends August 29 at Daventon Baptist Church with the funeral service following and burial in the church cemetery.

Don “Kenny” Davis, 86, passed away on August 15, 2025, in Charleston SC. He was born of Mr. And Mrs. AW (Bud) Davis.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Bryson Davis; their son, Brian Keith Davis; and two cherished granddaughters, Addie Grace Davis and Allyson Mar Davis.

A Visitation/Services will be held on September 13, 2025, starting at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church of Moncks Corner SC
