12th season begins Sept. 26-27
The Mill Town Players finished up their 11th season with a crowd favorite, Austin Irby (aka “The Upstate’s Elvis”), in ROCK-A-HULA! which ran at the Historic Pelzer Auditorium for 10 shows over two weekends, August 21-31 and the final production with South Pacific.
Mill Town Players Executive Artistic Director Will Ragland said that more than 31,000 people attended a Mill Town Players production in Pelzer this past season. “We haven’t seen that kind of attendance since before the pandemic,” Ragland said. “Not only that, but we were able to feature 71 performers, 30 musicians, 21 technicians, 19 designers, 6 directors, 4 musical directors, and 2 choreographers in our shows. They were all local to Upstate South Carolina.”
Season 12 will begin with a concert by Anderson University’s country bands, Gold Road and Blacktop Run. “The two student bands are expected to put on one fantastic weekend of country concerts. Nearly 1,200 seats are already sold,” Ragland said. The bands will perform Sept. 26 and 27.
Performances for The Mystery of Irma Vep will run October 24 – November 2. That’s a total of 9 performances (including Saturday nights) over the course of two weekends at the Historic Pelzer Auditorium!
Filled with all kinds of spooky fun and kooky characters, Irma Vep is a ridiculous spoof of Gothic melodramas, old Hollywood monster flicks, and classic whodunits!
With costume changes and a little bit of theatrical magic, two actors will transform into a variety of oddball characters at breakneck speed! The Mystery of Irma Vep will star two of the Upstate’s zaniest actors, Cameron Woodson and Drake King. “This will be a horror comedy that is sure to be a howling good time,” Ragland said.
