Larry Bruce Aiken

Lexington- Larry Bruce Aiken, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. Son to the late Willie and Nell Aiken. Larry peacefully passed away on July 24, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and cherished memories.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, Larry was a proud Navy veteran who served his country with honor. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal for his service. His commitment to his country was only matched by his devotion to his family, friends, and community.

Larry is survived by his three daughters, Andrea Aiken of Williamston, SC, Christen Canamare (Bill) of Waxhaw, NC, and Lauren Morris (Michael) of Lexington, SC. 

His love for his family was unwavering, and he delighted in spending time with his grandchildren: Ashlyn Blakely (Wes), Ben Aiken (Tammy), Madi Canamare, Mallory Canamare, Krew Morris, Kaiden Morris, Allie Canamare, Will Canamare, and great-grandson, Brooks Aiken. 

Larry was also the loving brother to five sisters: Dianne Blackstone, Patricia Aiken (Robert), Kathy Aiken (Carrol), Deborah Melton, and Donna Morgan. His siblings held a special place in his heart, and their bonds were a source of comfort and strength throughout his life.

A man of simple pleasures, Larry had a deep love for watching Gamecock Football and spending time on the lake. Those who knew Larry will always remember his infectious laughter, his ability to make every gathering feel special, and his incredible creativity which he was able to showcase through his architecture and building. 

Larry’s passing leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him. His love, his service, and his presence in the world will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Larry’s life and legacy Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 1:00 at MJ Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson SC. To honor Larry, donations can be made to Tunnels to Towers Foundation.

Charlie Cooley

Charles “Charlie” William Cooley of Pelzer, 85, husband of Ellen Loranda Robinson Cooley, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Born in Pelzer, he was a son of the late William G. and Minnie Lee Revels Cooley. He retired from Kendall Company and was a member of Alive Wesleyan Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, John Cooley (Susan); sister, Ann Thompson; brother Carroll Cooley; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Wednesday September 24, from 11:30 am to 1:15 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service will follow in the mortuary chapel at 1:30 pm. Burial will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery.

Webster Jones

Greenville – Webster Stanley Jones, 84, husband of Catherine Ann Knight Jones, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late Leroy and Ethel Case Jones. He retired from South Carolina DHEC.

He is survived by son, Kevin Colton Jones.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel.

Catherine Jones

Catherine Ann Knight Jones of Greenville, 84, wife of Webster Stanley Jones, passed away Wednesday, September 17, 2025.

Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Wister Eugene “Gene” and Maude Allen Knight. She retired from Union Carbide and was a member of Washington Baptist Church.

Survivors include son, Kevin Colton Jones and brother, Roger Knight.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 25, from 9:30 – 10:45 a.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 11:00 a.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery West.

Karen Sammons

Karen Diane Sammons of Williamston, 73, wife of Michael “Mike” Earl Sammons, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2025.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Jack L. and Doris Taylor Brown.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son, Michael Wayne Sammons (Cindy); daughter, Angela Burgess; sister, Jackie McJunkin (Rex); 8 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mack Waters

Kenneth Mack Waters of Pelzer, 65, passed away Monday, September 22, 2025.

Born in Pelzer, he was the son of the late Geneva Mae Edens Waters. He was employed with Anderson School District One and was a member of Alive Wesleyan Church. 

He is survived by sister, Judy Smith of Honea Path.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 26, from 12:30 to 1:45 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Pine Lawn Cemetery, Pelzer.
