A joint investigation between the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville County Animal Control has led to the arrest in connection with an ongoing dog-fighting operation.
The investigation began on October 9, 2025, after deputies received a complaint of possible animal cruelty and dogfighting. Following the complaint, investigators with both agencies conducted a thorough investigation that led to a search warrant for a property at 603 S. Artillery Court in Piedmont, where several dogs were being housed and bred.
During the search, investigators seized four American Pit Bull Terriers, two of which showed obvious signs of injury consistent with dog fighting. The dogs were safely removed from the property and placed in the care of animal control for medical evaluation and treatment.
As a result of the investigation, Zachary Vincent Miller, 44, was charged with: 2 counts of Dog Fighting and 3 counts of Ill Treatment of Animals.
The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and Greenville County Animal Control remain committed to investigating and prosecuting all forms of animal cruelty. Anyone with information about suspected animal abuse is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers of Greenville at 864-23-CRIME.
