The Williamston Cemetery Committee is asking the community to help them with information related to Veteran graves located in the Williamston Cemetery.

“Our very special Cemetery is the final resting place of the remains of many veterans of all wars and veterans who served in peacetime,” said Williamston Cemetery Committee C o-Chair Jane Tucker Addison. “Unfortunately, records of veterans’ graves have not been well maintained as we would have liked at all times since its founding in the mid-Nineteenth Century and we earnestly ask for your assistance.”

If you know of a veteran in the Williamston Cemetery, from any war or peacetime, please provide with the Cemetery Committee with as much information as you have or can gather, such as, but not limited to:
Name of the deceased veteran; War in which he or she served, if any; Any personal information you wish to share, especially rank and dates of birth and death; Location of the deceased’s grave

“All whose remains are buried in our Cemetery are special, and we ask also that you let us know of family members, friends, and loved ones who are buried there and where they are buried,” said Committee Member Jane Tucker Addison. “Our goal is to create as thorough a record of graves as possible, and your help is indispensable.”

Cemetery Committee members include: Jane Tucker Addison, Co-Chair; James C. Saxon, Co-Chair and Secretary; Melanie Dugan, Treasurer; Chair Emerita, Beth Wilson; Otis Scott; Lee Cole; Pam Owens and Larry Strom.
