The Envision Williamston Winter Wonderland Event will be held on Sunday, Nov. 30 in downtown Williamston. The all day event will include a vendor Christmas market, the Williamston Christmas Parade, opening of Deck the Halls, Lighting of the Christmas Park and Town Tree and much more.
The Opening Night Ceremony in front of Town Hall will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Envision Williamston Executive Director Roberta Hamby said Special activities for children this year will include a 30 ft. Snowman Bounce and an inflatable Tube Snow Slide. There will also be a “Snow Shed” which will feature 2400 snow balls available for a fun “snow ball fight”. Two trackless trains will be for running kids and all riders will receive a complimentary Christmas bell. Free pictures for families will be made by a photographer located in Town Hall.
There will be free hot chocolate and cookies and “Night Before Christmas” book reading by the mayor.
A special Sensory Room will be available for special needs children and for viewing the Christmas Parade with a no light and sound zone for parade entries.
Carriage rides are being sponsored by Christina Ortiz State Farm agency.
There will also be a live Nativity.
The Christmas Market featuring numerous vendors will be held in the Municipal Center Auditorium beginning at 2 p.m. The Williamston Christmas Parade will begin at 5 p.m. This year the night parade route will be shortened, and will begin on East Main Street at Mill Street and proceed to the traffic light at West Main Street and Academy Street.
Judging for the parade will be in front of the Fire Department this year.
Nominations are being accepted for Citizen of the Year, to be announced during the opening night program. Councilman Chris Alexander is accepting nominations for the award.
The “Williamston Goes Griswald” annual Christmas Decorating Contest is now underway. Display setup and deadline for entry will be through Dec. 12. All entries must submit a photo of their display to EWBoardMembers@gmail.com by Dec. 12.
