A multi vehicle wreck on I-85 early Saturday morning resulted in the death of one person and nine others injured. I-85 Southbound was shut down for hours to clear the wreckage and investigate the incident.
According to reports, Anderson County 911 received a call just after 2:30 am for a wreck at the 37 mile marker (Piedmont)
Responders arrived on scene to find four vehicles involved as well as 10 injured victims.
According to the Coroner’s Office, one person was deceased on scene. The other nine patients were treated and transported to Prisma Greenville for their injuries.
Preliminary investigation shows that the victim was a passenger in a car driving Southbound on I-85 when the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle.
Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigated.
