Catherine McAlister
Pelzer – Catherine Elizabeth Smith McAlister, 71, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.
Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Thompson Albert and Willie Elma Stone Smith. She devoted her life to hard work, service, and caring for those around her. Catherine dedicated 40 years of loyal service to Duke Energy, where she was known for her strong work ethic, warm personality, and lasting friendships she built over the decades. In addition to her professional career, she also spent more than 20 years serving the community at Stoneybrook Fishing Lake, a place she loved deeply and where she welcomed countless visitors with her signature kindness. She was also a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.
Catherine never met a stranger. She loved to talk, especially at church where her conversations, laughter, and ability to make everyone feel seen and valued became part of her ministry. Her presence brought comfort, joy, and connection to all who knew her.
She is survived by sons, Drew McAlister and Bryan McAlister (Amanda); beloved grandchildren, Kincade and Madelyn McAlister; and brother, Thompson Smith (Linda).
She was predeceased by son, Logan McAlister.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 26, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
A graveside service will be held Friday, November 28, at 11:00 am at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

Diane Miller
Bessie Diane Warren Miller of Piedmont, 53, passed away Friday, November 21, 2025.
Born in Augusta GA, she was a daughter of the late Rufus Roy and Bonnie Faye Fuller Warren. She was employed at Southwark Metal in Piedmont.
She is survived by son, Dale Miller; and daughter, Brittney Miller; sister, Marie Martin; seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 29, from 2:00 to 3:15 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer, with the service following at 3:30 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.

John Frank “Bo” King
Fair Play – John Frank “Bo” King, 84, husband of Linda LaBerta King, passed peacefully from this life to be reunited with many friends and loved ones in Heaven on Sunday, November 16, 2025. He was surrounded by his family and friends who loved him.
Born in Pelzer, on May 16, 1941, he was a son of the late Bill King and Clara Gilmer Porter King. Bo worked in construction from a young age building beautiful houses. He built metal buildings for Huskey Construction as well as remodeling houses. Bo and Linda married on January 8, 1971 and lived in Piedmont for many years before moving to Lake Hartwell in 2009. His passion was playing golf with friends at Southern Oaks Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by son, Pastor John Cameron King (Rachel); four granddaughters, Abby, Alena, Maddie Grace, and Eliana Bree King; sister-in-law, Barbara Giles King; and nephew, Darrell King.
He was predeceased by sister, Shirley Shook; brother, William R. King; and his beautiful granddaughter, Makiah Kaitlyn King.
The family received friends Saturday, November 22, from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service followed at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
The family will be at the home.
