Imogene Johnson

Imogene Lowman Johnson of Piedmont, 84, passed away Monday, November 17, 2025.

Born in Lincoln County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Herbert Arthur Lowman and Ruby Huss Liguori. She retired from Burke County Schools in NC and a member at Shiloh Methodist Church.

She is survived by son, Scott Johnson; brothers, Steve Lowman and Randy Lowman; two grandchildren  and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 7, 1:00 to 1:45 pm at Shiloh Methodist Church, Piedmont. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Betty Bowen

Betty Sue Smith Bowen of Williamston, 89, wife of the late Paul Franklin Bowen, Jr., passed away Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Born in Williamston, she was a daughter of the late Hyson Lee Ranson and Sally Lucille Holliday Smith. She retired from BASF and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

She is survived by step-son, Mark Bowen; step-daughter, Paula Allen; sisters, Barbara Harrison and Nancy Capell; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was December 1 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service followed in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Barbara Brady

 Barbara Ann Rhodes Brady of Greenville, 85, wife of the late Donald Brady, Sr., passed away Friday, November 28, 2025.

 Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Maxwell and Bernice Coker Rhodes.

She was a member of Rehoboth Baptist Church.

 She is survived by son, Brent Brady; daughter, Sonya Brady; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Brenda Jordan

Piedmont – Brenda Gail Garrison Jordan, 59, passed away Monday, December 1, 2025.

Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of Betty Jo Yerta Cape and the late Wiliam “Bill” Charles Garrison.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by son, Thomas M. Ross (Ashley Davenport); daughter, Renee Ross (Josh Watford); grandchildren, Zachary Ross, Jordan Ross, Ariyana Byland, Nick Ross, D’morie Ross, Dylan Ross, Landon Ross, and Elijah Ross; great-grandchild, Arianna Martin; sister, Rose Lindsey; and brothers, Wayne Garrison and George Cape, Jr.

She was predeceased by a son, W. Kyle Ficklin.

A private memorial service will be held at the home of her mother.

Henrietta “Etta” Glover

 Williamston – Henrietta “Etta” Glover, 82, wife of the late Hardy “Spike” Glover, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2025.

 Born in Waverly, NY, she was the daughter of the late Clare and Marjorie Nickles Ives.

 Mrs. Glover was a member of Pelzer United Methodist Church. She retired from Anderson School District 1 and volunteered with the Williamston Food Bank.  

 She is survived by daughter, Tammy Gambrell (Dee); sons, David (Amanda) and Daniel (Casey) Glover; fourteen grandchildren, Bruce, Taylor, Isaac, Sydney, Warren, Mikenzi, Chloe, Samantha, Hannah, Mason, Valerie, Brittny, Jeremy, and Taylor; 9 great-grandchildren, Liam, Kairi, Logan, River, Jasper, Maisa, Stetson, Zander and Zoe; and sister, Sharon Qualley (George).

 She was predeceased in death by brothers, Gerald and Richard Ives; sister, Jean Auer; and granddaughter, Kayla Glover Quick.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 4, from 12:00 to 1:45 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

Ed Ellis

PIEDMONT – William Edward “Ed” Ellis, 81, husband of the late Grace Ann Darnell Ellis who was the love of his life and to whom he was married for 44 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Born on January 9, 1944 in Williamston, he was the beloved son of the late Louie Clyde and Sally Moore Ellis. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and the National Guard from 1962 to 1969. Following his service, he dedicated the majority of his life to commercial and industrial construction. As a respected Superintendent and Project Manager, he contributed his skills to several prominent construction firms. His career was marked by professionalism and a deep understanding of his craft. In his later years, Ed embraced an entrepreneurial spirit, co-owning and building several businesses alongside his children.

Above all, Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a saved man from an early age and raised his children as a steadfast man of God, leaving them a powerful example of faith and integrity. He was a member of Wren Baptist Church.

Survivors include his two loving children, Pastor Brent Edward Ellis (Lynn) and Becki Ellis Smith (Will); grandchildren, Austin Ellis, Amber Ellis, Ami Ellis, Devon Smith, and Grayson Smith.

He was predeceased by brothers, Mose, Gary, and Daniel Ellis.

The family received friends November 28, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

The funeral service was held November 30, in the mortuary chapel. Burial followed at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Anderson.

Ed truly left his mark on the world, not only through the structures he helped build but through the lives he enriched. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Catherine McAlister

Catherine Elizabeth Smith McAlister of Pelzer, 71, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025.

Born in Pelzer, she was the daughter of the late Thompson Albert and Willie Elma Stone Smith. She was employed with Duke Energy. She later served the community at Stoneybrook Fishing Lake. 

She was also a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

She is survived by sons, Drew McAlister and Bryan McAlister; two grandchildren and brother, Thompson Smith.

Visitation was held November 26 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

A graveside service was held November 28 at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.

Clinton Jones

Pelzer – Clinton Eugene Jones, 84, husband of the late Evelyn Dyal Jones, passed away Monday, November 24, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born in Emanuel County, GA, he was the son of the late Ruby Lee Jones. He spent most of his career working for Kendall Mill until they closed and was a former volunteer firefighter in Pelzer. He was also a member of Restoration Chapel Church of God of Prophecy.

Survivors include son, Ricky Jones of Pelzer; daughters, Sandra Kelly of Pelzer, Pam Timmons of Williamston, and Felicia Browning (Johnny) of Liberty; sister, Ann Dexter of Belton; 3 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great- grandchildren.

The family received friends Friday, November 28, from 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Anderson.

Martha Bridges

Martha Delores Bridges of Belton, 69, wife of Jerald Bridges, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025.

 Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Johnny and Rena Gambrell.

She was a member of Open Door Community Church.

 In addition to her spouse, she is survived by, daughters, Summer Wilson, Hope Reid and Breanna Cain; step-daughter, Laurie Todd; step-sons, Josh Shelton and Brannon Bridges; six grandchildren and four step-grandchildren, sisters, Becky Nimmons and Charlette Marsh; and brothers, Ray Gambrell and Mark Gambrell.

A memorial service will be held at Open Door Community Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 6.

Curt DeShields

John Curtis “Curt” DeShields of Greenville, 66, husband of Sonja Elaine Graham DeShields, passed away Friday, November 28, 2025.

Born in Greenville, he was a son of Mary DeShields Holden and the late Larry Martin DeShields. He was a member of Waycross Baptist Church. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Ava DeShields; sister, Marie Barbre.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 4, from 12:30 to 1:45 pm at Waycross Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm in the church. A private entombment will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Llenimar Milian-Tapia

Llenimar Milian-Tapia of Piedmont, 40, wife of Gehu Hernandez-Pineda, passed away Nov. 21, 2025.

Born in Mexico, she was a daughter of Agustin Milian-Vargas and the late Margarita Tapia-Palacios. She was employed at Whole Foods Market.

In addition to her husband and father, she is survived by daughters, Paola Hernandez-Milian and Lia Hernandez-Milian; sons, Gehu Hernandez-Milian, Jr. and Randy Hernandez-Milian; sisters, Angelica Milian-Tapia, Hismelda Milian-Tapia, Veronica Milian-Tapia and Reyna Milian-Tapia; and brothers, Eliseo Milian-Tapia and Rolando Milian-Tapia.

Visitation was held November 29 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following in the mortuary chapel. Burial was at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
