The Anderson County Coroner’s office is investigating the death of a man whose body was found on Welcome Road last Friday.
Anderson County dispatch was notified on Friday at around 9:50 am of a deceased male in the woods off CPR Way at Welcome Road.
The victim was identified by the Anderson County Coroner’s Office as Jody Calin Mason, 36, of Easley.
According to the Coroner’s office, preliminary investigation shows that on Tuesday night the victim was driving a 2004 Toyota Sequoia on Welcome Road when he wrecked. It appears he then exited the vehicle and left the scene before Highway Patrol arrived. The family reported the victim missing on Friday morning and he was found deceased a short time later by law enforcement in the area where the accident occurred.
The cause and manner of death are pending. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday to assist in the investigation.
The indicent is under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, Anderson County Sheriffs Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
