Emergency responders including EMS, Sheriff’s Office, Williamston Police, Williamston Fire and the SC Highway Patrol are currently on the scene of an incident involving a train and a trash truck in Williamston.
The incident happened at approximately 9:45 am at the railroad crossing at Prince Street. The Coroner’s office responded and initially it was reported that there was a fatality. An update from the scene indicated that there was not a fatality but one person was unresponsive. Lifeflight helicopter landed at the Calvary Baptist Church parking lot and took off at approximately 10 am transporting one person. Three people were in the vehicle. It was also reported that injured had been transported to the hospital.
