A Greenville County Sheriff Deputy vehicle was rammed during a traffic stop Jan. 8.
According to the GCSO, Deputies attempted a traffic stop in the area of Reedy Fork Road and Saddlebred Lane regarding suspected drug-related activity. The driver initially stopped but then intentionally rammed a deputy’s patrol vehicle multiple times.
A brief vehicle pursuit followed; however, deputies terminated the pursuit due to the significant danger posed to the public.
A short time later, the suspect vehicle was located by Greenwood County law enforcement, who pursued it into Laurens County. The vehicle subsequently wrecked, and the driver fled the scene on foot.
The suspect has been identified as Corey Scott Dutler, 43. Upon apprehension, he is expected to face the following charges:
• Three counts of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature (ABHAN)
• Failure to Stop for Blue Lights
• Reckless Driving
This incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact local law enforcement or call 911.
