A second January winter storm which swept through the Upstate over the weekend brought approximately 3 to 5 inches of snow across Anderson County, with the northern portions of the county experiencing the heaviest snowfall. Snow began falling locally around 7 a.m. Saturday.

Local Impact . . .
Anderson County Emergency Management reported road conditions deteriorating throughout the day Saturday and expected them to worsen significantly overnight, creating hazardous travel conditions. Residents were strongly urged to stay off the roads.
Snow and ice remained on the ground and on area roads early Sunday morning, but began melting as temperatures rose during the day. Power outages across the county were minimal.
The storm resulted in a “bomb cyclone” forming just of the NC coast which brought 6 to 8 inches of snow to Myrtle Beach and the NC beaches Saturday and into Sunday.
Temperatures dropped into the teens and twenty’s Monday, with a low of 11 degrees reported in the Williamston area.
Roads were fairly clear with some icy spots on Monday and many business opened late on Monday morning.
Anderson School District One was closed Monday, with e-learning scheduled for students. District One operated on a 2-hour delay Tuesday. Buses did not travel on some roads that remained icy and families impacted were notified by the AD1 Transportation Department.
AM Career Center students did report to the Career Center for morning classes.
The Anderson School District One Board of Trustees meeting, rescheduled to the inclement weather last week, did take place as scheduled on Tuesday.
Anderson County Government Offices, PAWS, Convenience Centers, the MRF, and Starr Landfill were closed on Monday but resumed their normal schedules on Tuesday.
Ice remained at the Wren Convenience Center so that site was not open Tuesday.
Williamston Town Council met Monday as scheduled and meetings scheduled for Tuesday including a work session in Pelzer and Anderson County Council were held.
