The Town of Williamston participated in a small town recognition day at the Greenville Swamp Rabbit Hockey game on Jan. 23.
The promotional event package, which cost the Town of Williamston $5,000, was paid from a discretional mayor’s incentive budget item approved by council to be used for building morale for town employees.
Mayor Rockey Burgess said the event included tickets to the hockey game for 50 town employees and family members as well as food and drinks and 200 discounted tickets for the community.
Williamston resident and Veteran Lance Corporal Michael Copeland, USMC, was recognized as a Hometown Hero during the game and featured on the jumbo-tron. Copeland also had the opportunity to speak with players in the locker room before the game and offered words of encouragement. (See separate story)
