A man behind stolen property, a pursuit and then manhunt is now behind bars.
Brandon Wade Johnson, 30, has been charged with two counts of Receiving Stolen Goods valued at more than $10,000 following a crime spree that began last Wednesday afternoon in Belton.
According to Anderson County Sheriff’s Detectives, Johnson and a group of suspects stole a pickup truck from Harold Lane in Belton and then shortly after, a motorcycle from Shiloh Church Road in Piedmont.
The crimes continued into Pelzer, where Johnson and the other suspects began ransacking a homeowner’s shed along Pine Circle. As the suspects fled the scene, the homeowner followed in his own vehicle and reported seeing the stolen motorcycle fall from the bed of the truck. The pursuit ended when the suspects crashed near Sue’s Wings and Things on Highway 81.
ACSO Deputies launched a search operation using a K9 unit and drones.
Once Johnson was located he ignored verbal commands to surrender and was successfully apprehended by K9 Chapo.
He was treated for injuries at the hospital and was transported to the Anderson County Detention Center.
Detectives say the investigation remains ongoing as they continue searching for additional suspects involved.
