Pendleton man dies from smoke inhalation

The Anderson County Office of the Coroner is investigating the death of a man who died weeks after being found in a Pendleton home that had caught fire.
Anderson County 911 received a call on January 26th for an unresponsive male on Woodland Circle in Pendleton. Responders arrived to find one victim inside the residence with what was believed to be diabetic problems.
Further investigation showed that there had been a fire in another area of the home that the victim was staying in. It was determined that the victim had inhaled smoke and needed to be flown to Doctors Hospital in Augusta, where he succumbed to his injuries on February 10th.
The victim was been identified as Kenneth Ray Kelly, 59 of Pendleton.
The cause of death is inhalation burns and smoke inhalation, and the manner of death has been ruled accidental. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Anderson County Fire Department.
