SLED charges Piedmont man with lottery fraud

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) has charged Averious Jethomas Ajee Griffin, 31, of Piedmont, with Attempting to Influence a Game by Tampering.
The South Carolina Education Lottery requested the SLED investigation.
According to the arrest warrant, on Dec. 25, 2025, Griffin was employed as a delivery driver for FedEx and stole multiple SCEL tickets from the back of a FedEx delivery truck at a FedEx facility located at 1010 Evergreen Rd., Anderson.
The warrant states Griffin opened a SCEL package containing SCEL scratch-off lottery tickets and unlawfully took possession of the package from the delivery truck. He then placed the package into his personal vehicle and transported it to his residence without authorization or consent.
Griffin was booked into the Anderson County Detention Center.
The case will be prosecuted by the 10th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
