Deputies were patrolling the area of Willingham Road and Beaverdam Road Monday when they observed a Toyota minivan run a stop sign and fail to maintain its lane of travel. Deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver failed to stop, and a vehicle pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit ended shortly thereafter following a forcible stop near the intersection of Cherokee Road and Joe Black Road. Upon investigation, the driver was found to be in possession of approximately 150 grams of methamphetamine.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to investigate the collision and charged the driver with DUI, driving under suspension (DUS), use of a license plate not issued for the vehicle, and a tire violation. The driver was also charged with trafficking meth and failure to stop.
The driver was identified as 61-year-old Welborn Eugene Finley.
