Anderson County is currently facing a critical shortage of election workers for the upcoming June Primary Elections, scheduled for Tuesday, June 9 and Tuesday, June 23. These elections require staffing at all 79 precincts across the county, and additional workers are urgently needed to ensure the process runs smoothly and efficiently.
Election workers play a vital role in maintaining the integrity and accessibility of the voting process. Responsibilities include:
⦁ Assisting with voter check-in
⦁ Issuing ballots and guiding voters through the process
⦁ Managing voting equipment
⦁ Ensuring all procedures are followed in accordance with election laws
⦁ Helping maintain an orderly and fair voting environment
⦁ To serve as an election worker, individuals must be a registered voter in South Carolina (can be Anderson County or adjacent county). Additionally, 16 and 17-year-olds are eligible to serve as poll workers, providing a valuable opportunity for students to be involved in the democratic process.
All workers will receive required training prior to the election and will be compensated for their service.
“This is a critical need for the community,” said Austin Cooley, Precinct Coordinator. “Ensuring that each precinct is fully staffed is essential to conducting fair and efficient elections. Residents of Anderson County are encouraged to step forward and serve.”
