Motorcyclist succumbs to injuries sustained in collision
According to reports, Anderson County 911 received a call Wednesday evening (Apr. 22) just after 6pm for a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a car at Cox Lake Road and Broadway School Road in Belton.
Responders arrived on scene to find the driver of the motorcycle suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. He was treated and transported to AnMed where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Cody Monroe Williams, 33, of Belton.
Preliminary investigation shows that Williams was driving West on Broadway School Road when a North bound vehicle attempted to cross over Broadway School Road causing the collision. The manner of death has been ruled accidental. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
The scene was under investigation by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner, the South Carolina Highway Patrol and South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT Team.
