James Breedin Bowen

James Breedin Bowen, age 83, husband of Carol Cromer Bowen, passed away peacefully on Monday April 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family, at his home.

Born on June 21st, 1942, in Anderson SC, he was the son of the late Harry Bowen and Thelma Heaton Bowen.

He was a devoted husband to his wife with whom he shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, faith, and family.

He was a proud father to six children, Sherry Bowen of Pelzer, Edie Ford (Melvin) of Pelzer, Eddie Bowen (Becky) of Acworth, Georgia, Greg Bowen of Belton, Doug Bowen (Nikki) of Williamston, and Tonya McClain of Piedmont. A cherished grandfather to fifteen grandchildren, and a joyful great-grandfather to fourteen great-grandchildren. His legacy lives on through each of them, in the stories they share and the values he instilled.

James was predeceased by his grandson Cole Bowen; brothers, Robert Bowen and Tommy Bowen; sister Harriet Wright; and son-in-law Chad McClain.

He found simple joy in the things he loved most—watching classic Westerns, cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs, and never missing a chance to root for the Atlanta Braves. He will be remembered for his steady presence, his love for his family, and the quiet strength with which he lived his life.

A service to honor his life was held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 1st at Sullivan-King
