Nearly 500 homes and businesses were without electricity after a pickup truck struck two vehicles north of Highway 86 on Highway 20 and kept going Saturday evening. After the driver got south of Highway 86 he lost control of the truck causing it to overturn and strike a power pole breaking it. A transformer fell to the ground along with live lines. Piedmont firefighters removed the driver to safety away from the live lines. He was transported to the hospital by Greenville county EMS. A QRV, state troopers, and deputies also were on scene.
