Anderson County Sheriff’s Deputies successfully captured a wanted murder suspect out of Georgia on I-85 Wednesday (May 20).
According to reports, authorities in Georgia notified the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office about a wanted 43-year-old man who was believed to be traveling in a tractor-trailer. Members of the Special Investigations Division located the truck traveling north on Interstate 85.
To avoid the possibility of a pursuit, the Sheriff and deputies strategically coordinated a traffic stop by using marked patrol vehicles to stop traffic ahead of the tractor-trailer, effectively boxing the suspect in. Unmarked units then activated emergency lights and surrounded the truck. The suspect was taken into custody at gunpoint without incident.
The suspect, Andrew Montgomery was transported to the Anderson County Detention Center where he remained until he could be extradited back to Georgia.
