The Anderson County Office of the Coroner is investigating the death of an Anderson man following a single vehicle crash on May 31.
According to reports, Anderson County 911 received a call just before 4:45pm for a single-vehicle crash on Abbeville Highway at Middleton Road. Responders arrived on scene to find one victim trapped inside his vehicle. He was extricated and taken to AnMed where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Elijah Patrick Chapman, 20, of Anderson.
Preliminary investigation showed that the victim was driving on Abbeville Highway when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree.
The accident was investigated by Anderson County Office of the Coroner and South Carolina Highway Patrol.
