Anderson County Deputies with the narcotics unit attempted to make a traffic stop in Piedmont Monday. When deputies initiated their blue lights, the suspect began to flee traveling towards Greenville County. Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and SCHP were made aware that an active pursuit may be headed into Greenville County and assistance may be needed. During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle wrecked at Old Greenville Highway and Piedmont Highway where the suspect’s vehicle left the roadway and overturned in a ravine. An Anderson County K9 Officer bit the suspect during the incident. The suspect was taken to a hospital in Greenville by Greenville County EMS to treat the dog bite and will be booked into Anderson County Detention Center upon release. Piedmont firefighters also responded to the wreck.
