John Jacob “Jack” Bargiol, Sr., Zelphia Garrett, Cathy Roberts

Catherine “Cathy” Baker Williams Roberts of Greenville, affectionately known as “Nana”, 79, passed away Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at her home.

Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late George Lee Baker, Jr. and Thelma Louise Ballew Baker. Nana retired after a long career from Hoechst Celanese. She was a beautiful Christian woman and a devoted grandmother and being “Nana” was one of her greatest joys in life. She was a self-proclaimed Uno champion, and she also loved classic rock, especially Bon Jovi and Bad Company. 

She is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Morrow and husband, Tim and two grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 11, at 12:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary Chapel, Pelzer with burial following at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Zelphia Garrett

 Zelphia Francis Kirby Garrett of Williamston, 86, widow of Lanny Ross Garrett, passed away Sunday, May 31, 2026.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Claude Wilton and Eula Maude Ridgeway Kirby. She retired as the front office manager from House of Fabrics.

Survivors include son, Eugene Garrett; her long time companion Fred Smith, one grandson; sister, Dot Strawhorn; and brothers, Bill and Glenn Kirby.

A graveside service was held June 6 at Columbia Baptist Church Cemetery.

John Jacob “Jack” Bargiol, Sr.

Anderson – John Jacob Bargiol, Sr. (Jack), age 92, husband of 65 years to Shirlene H. Bargiol, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 7, 2026. 

Born in Williamston, SC, he was the son of the late Carol and Eva Bargiol. 

After graduating from Pelzer High School in 1951, he worked for Sears for a short time in shipping and receiving. He was drafted into the Army in 1954 and completed his training at Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC. He became a member of the 101st Airborne Infantry Division. He attended NCO school in Fort Lee, VA. He served for two years in Korea and was discharged in 1956. 

Under the G.I. Bill, he attended Gupton Jones Institute of Mortuary Science in  Dallas, TX and earned his Funeral Director and Embalmer’s license. He worked at The McDougald Funeral Home in Anderson, SC, until his retirement in February 1996. He was a member of the National Board of Embalmer’s a member of the Georgia Academy of Embalmers, attended Charleston Medical University for eye transplant and became a member of the South Carolina Eye Association. He was a member of Taylor Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, T. Mark Bargiol (Rhonda) and John Jacob Bargiol, Jr. (Tracy) both of Anderson; daughter, Rebecca J. Bellotte (Tony) of Seneca; grandson, Cody Campbell (Brianna), Casey  Campbell (Anna), T.J. Bellotte, and John Jacob Bargiol, III; granddaughter, Alex Neal; and great grandchildren, Avery Campbell and Hudson Campbell. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Bargiol. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of The McDougald Funeral Home with Dr. Brent Lollis officiating. Entombment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.

The family will be at the residence.
