The Town of Williamston Freedom Festival and Concert held Saturday was one of the first events in the area celebrating the 250th anniversary of America’s independence.
The festival featured a concert with Nashville-based country music artists Elizabeth Jo, Gyth Rigdon from the Voice and headliner Travis Denning.
Some activities were delayed due to afternoon thunderstorms that rumbled through the area but the storms did not interfer with the main activities.
The event included Envision Williamston’s Bobbers on Big Creek, golf cart parade, classic car show cruise-in sponsored by the Williamston Fire Department and tethered hot air balloon rides sponsored by the Palmetto Business Association.
The Golf Cart parade was sponsored by Jackson Stanley Realtors and featured 40 entries. Participants decorated golf carts and side-by-side vehicles celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary. First Place was awarded to Tonya and Bernard Wilson, owners of Lollipops Ice Cream Shop, for their eye-catching tropical-themed golf cart.
Festival-goers also browsed unique goods at the Freedom Market in the Williamston Municipal Center Auditorium.
