Special Primary Election to be held August 11 – To fill Graham’s Seat

Due to the unfortunate passing of US Senator Lindsey Graham, Anderson County will have a Special Republican Primary Election to nominate a Republican candidate to appear on the General Election ballot. This US Senate Special Election will take place August 11, with a potential runoff election on August 25.

Given the unexpected nature and timeline of this election, Anderson County Registration and Elections will be taking special measures to provide the voters of this county with a successful, fair, and transparent election cycle.

Polling locations for this election will be combined as to not disrupt school that will be in session on this date. Also they plan to provide a sufficient number of election workers on such short notice to ensure every voter of Anderson County a smooth election day process.

At this time, the listing of polling locations for election day have not been finalized but staff are diligently working on this important matter. Polling location listings will be announced once arrangements have been made official.

Candidate Filing for this US Senate Special Republican Primary opens at noon, Tuesday, July 21 and closes noon, Tuesday, July 28.
The deadline to apply for absentee ballot will be July 31 at 5 p.m
Early Voting for the Special Primary will be held Wednesday, August 5 through Friday, August 7, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 301 N Main Street in Anderson.
This will be the only early voting location available for this election.
