Body identified
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Coroner are investigating an incident in which a body was found Saturday in a private pond located at 1101 Hwy. 247 in Belton.
The body was found by the landowners while they were doing some landscaping.
The Anderson County Office of the Coroner identified the victim as Shannon Ray Carter, 42, of Anderson. According to the Coroner’s office, the victim appeared to have been in the water for a month or more and was identified by tattoos. An autopsy has been scheduled to assist in the investigation.
The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations team, Anderson Couty Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Anderson County Coroner’s office responded to the scene.
