Williamston Town Council – Books now open for filing

A general election for two seats on Williamston Town Council will be held in conjunction with the general election on Tuesday, November 3.
Seats for town council Ward 1 and Ward 2 are open for this election.
Citizens desiring to be candidates for one of the offices may file at the Williamston Municipal Center. Books opened for filing on August 3 and will remain open during regular business hours until 12 p.m. on August 17. The filing fee for the office of Town Council is $50.
Any person wishing to register to vote in this election must do so no later than October 3, 2026. To register, one must contact the Anderson County Board of Elections and Voter Registration.
The precincts involved in the election will be the portions of the Williamston Precinct, the Williamston Mill Precinct, and the Cedar Grove Precinct inside the municipal limits of the Town of Williamston.
The polling places are: Williamston Mill Precinct – Calvary Baptist Church, 10 S. Academy St., Williamston; Williamston Precinct – Palmetto Middle School, 803 N. Hamilton St., Williamston; Cedar Grove Precinct – Cedar Grove Elementary, 107 Melvin Ln., Williamston.
The polls will open at 7 a.m. on election day and close at 7 p.m. At 7 p.m. on election day, poll managers at Palmetto Middle School will begin examining the absentee ballot return envelopes.
On Thursday, November 5, at 10 a.m. at the Williamston Municipal Center, 12 W. Main St., Williamston, the Municipal Election Commission will hold a hearing to determine the validity of ballots challenged in this election. Any runoff will be held two weeks after the election on Tuesday, November 17.
