Ruth Hadden Freeman
Belton – Annie “Sweet Ruth” Ruth Abercrombie Hadden Freeman, 96, wife of the late John Grady Freeman, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026.
She was twice married, first to the late Robert Earle Hadden.
Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Archie Clifford and Anna Babb Abercrombie. She was a member of Williamston First Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons, Larry Hadden (Ann) and Allen Hadden; step-son, John A. Freeman (Kay); step-daughter, Elizabeth Freeman Weeks (Anthony); grandchildren, Lori Fields (Marc), Leslie Habets (Ted), Tammie Wright, Beth Hudson (Kelly), and Kyle Hadden; and great-grandchildren, Lily Fields, Will Fields, Jack Habets, Haddie Habets, Blair Garner, Tyce Garner and Ezra Esuary.
She was predeceased by daughter, Janice Wright; step-son, Donnie Freeman; sisters, Vera Thomason, Helen Johnson, Mary Lou Owens, Thelma Dowis and Joyce Cox; and brothers, David Abercrombie, Jack Abercrombie and AC Abercrombie.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 a.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont.

Carolyn Tyler
Carolyn Marie Stokes Tyler, 98, of Piedmont, wife of the late William “Bill” Ernest Tyler, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2026, at her home.
Born in Etowah, TN, she was a daughter of the late Robert Raymond and Sallie Nina Turner Stokes. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, loved listening to Gaither music, and Jesus was her best friend.
She is survived by daughter, Sherry Jane VanDonkelaar; sons, Larry Tyler and Danny Tyler; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation was held August 10 at New Hope Baptist Church with the funeral service followed in the church. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.

Martha Neely
Honea Path – Martha Jean Smith Neely, 88, entered her heavenly home on August 4, 2026, to be reunited with her beloved husband, Homer Neely, after 63 years of marriage.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Bennie and Reba Mann Smith. She retired from Swirl Manufacturing and was a member of Dry Oak Assembly of God.
Martha was passionate about her Christian faith and her family. She lived a life rooted in unwavering faith in Jesus Christ and found great joy in gathering family and friends around the table, preparing home-cooked meals, and creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Survivors include daughter, Donna Neely Powell (Mark); son, Scott Neely; granddaughters, Dedria Donnahoo (Justin) and Stephanie Strickland (Austin); great-grandchildren, Elijah Strickland and Della Donnahoo; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by daughters, Pamala Lynn and Stephanie Camille Neely; sisters, Leola Hooper and Mary Jeans; and brothers, Randolph and Thomas Smith.
A graveside service was held Friday, August 7, at 11:00 a.m. at Lickville Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Shirley Cobb
Shirley Jean Chapman Cobb, 82, of Belton, widow of James E. Cobb, Jr., ascended to the heavenly realms to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 9, 2026.
Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Aaron and Mary Hicks Chapman. Shirley was a long-time member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Piedmont. She spent her younger years as a dedicated wife and mother, later joining the textile workforce and trucking industries. Shirley committed her retirement years to acts of service for Meals on Wheels as well as other volunteer services within her church and community.
Survivors include daughter, Sharon Richardson and son, Eddie Cobb; 4 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn Chapman Lowe; and brother, Mike Chapman.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 13, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Carla Sue Haynes, 69, of West Pelzer, passed away Friday, August 7, 2026.
Born in Wichita, Kansas, she was the daughter of the late Rolland and Imogene Brooks Farrar. Carla retired from a career in retail. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved Louisiana, the New Orleans Saints and the LSU Tigers.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Haynes; son, Richard Smith; daughters, Britanny Smith, Christina Haynes and Samantha Sepulveda; and 7 grandchildren.

Bruce Weston
Bruce William Weston, 82, of Williamston, husband of Emma Jane Miller Weston, passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2026.
Born in Bellefonte, PA, he was the son of the late Harold and Irene Baney Weston. He was retired owner/operator of Bruce’s Furniture Store in Williamsport, PA and a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Dawna Miller; son, William Weston, 5 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother, Doug Weston.

Barbara Barton
Barbara Ann Terrebonne Barton, 69, of Pelzer, widow of Marcus Clinton Barton, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026 at her home.
Born in Franklinton, LA, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Bobbie Landry Terrebonne. She was employed with Harbor Inn Seafood in Greenville and a member of Beech Springs Church. Barbara was an example of how we should live our lives, loyal to her family with dedication, hard work, and love. She was the epitome of Southern hospitality.
Survivors include her children, Marcus Barton, Jennifer Martin, Bobbie Brannon, Dallas Barton, Michelle Straub, Amy Barton, and Joseph Barton; 9 grandchildren; and siblings, John Terrebonne, Maria Gill, Dawn Terrebonne, and Angel Terrebonne.
