The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in connection with the death of a man on Tilman Court in the Hopewell community Monday morning.
Deputies were dispatched to Tilman Court shortly before 10:15 am Monday in reference to a shooting with injuries. The incident happened at a home under construction in a fairly new neighborhood.
When deputies arrived, they found one victim inside the newly constructed kitchen area suffering from a fatal gunshot wound.
Another construction worker at the scene immediately notified deputies that the suspect had fled in a work vehicle and was traveling toward I-85. Deputies responded in that direction and were able to locate the suspect near Highway 8, where he was taken into investigative detention.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the victim and suspect were coworkers for the same cabinetry company based out of Greenville. The two men had driven together to the construction site earlier this morning. The victim was working as a contractor at the new home under construction when he was involved in a verbal altercation with a coworker, which escalated into shots being fired.
Witnesses told investigators they did not hear an altercation leading up to the shooting but said the suspect quickly became upset with the victim before shooting him. The Anderson County Office of the Coroner identified the deceased identified as Nicholas Christopher Grove 52 of Taylors. The death has been ruled homicide. An autopsy has been scheduled to assist in the investigation.
Detectives charged Deshod Uriah Shamar Oliver, 29, of Greenville, with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.
