The Town of Pelzer will hold three separate public hearings beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the Pelzer Gym. Public input will be accepted regarding an increase in the monthly sanitation fee, budget amendment regarding a line item for drainage and transferring responsibility for elections to Anderson County Voter Registration and Election Commission.
Any person interested in any or all of the matters will be given an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. A copy of the proposed ordinance is available for public inspection during normal business hours at Pelzer Town Hall, 103 Courtney Street.
The proposed ordinance 26-006 will increase the monthly residential sanitation fee by $1.50 per residential account per month to assist in recovering the costs associated with residential solid waste collection services, offset increasing collection expenses, and maintain the financial stability of the Town’s sanitation program.
Proposed ordinance 26-005 will amend the Town’s Fiscal Year 2026-2027 Budget to reflect revised operating, capital projects, hospitality, revenue, expenditure, grant, and fund transfer amounts; rename the capital projects line item “Drainage” to “Drainage and Roads”; establish a Capital Projects / Grant Match Fund; and establish final amended budget totals.
Proposed ordinance 26-004 will transfer responsibility for conducting municipal elections to the Anderson County Voter Registration and Election Commission; allow the Town of Pelzer to continue accepting candidate filings and filing fees locally for transmission to Anderson County; and abolish the Town of Pelzer Municipal Election Commission upon the effective transfer and Anderson County’s acceptance.
