Local man arrested in NC armored truck robbery

Williamston – Anderson County Deputies and the FBI served warrants and arrested a Williamston man in connection with the armed robbery of an armored truck in North Carolina.

Jerry Bogan, of 106 Hillcrest Dr., Williamston was arrested Friday morning, Nov. 11 during a traffic stop on U. S. Hwy. 29 at Ballard Road after he left his home.

Anderson Sheriff John Skipper said the Canton Police Department and the FBI had notified them that a person of interest possibly involved in the armored car vehicle robbery may be at the address.

Skipper said the residence was staked out overnight Thursday and the SWAT team was scheduled to be there Friday morning.

Skipper said Bogan was followed by a couple of marked cars who tried to stop him.

“He tried to evade us a little bit and ended up stopping. We had to forcibly enter the car to get him out,” Skipper said.

Deputies assisted the FBI with a search warrant for a home on Hillcrest Drive in Williamston .

According to authorities, the armored truck was making a delivery to an ATM in Canton N. C. on Thursday and was robbed at gunpoint.
