Two contestants represent area in Miss SC pageant

Two contestants are representing the Piedmont/Powdersville area this week at the Miss South Carolina pageant being held at Township Auditorium in Columbia. Miss Piedmont, Amanda Styles and Miss Powdersville, Hannah Failoni are competing in the pageant that will continue along with the Miss SC Teen pageant this week.

There are two more nights of preliminary competition on Wednesday, July 11, and Thursday, July 12, at 7 p.m., with the final competition at 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 14, when the new title-holders will be crowned.

Miss South Carolina 2012 will compete for the title of Miss America in Las Vegas in January 2013. Miss South Carolina Teen 2012 will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, FL, in August.

Anna Mills Polatty, Miss Capital City, 20, won the talent preliminary in the Miss South Carolina competition. She performed a vocal rendition of “Time to Say Goodbye.”

Summer Rayl, Miss Grand Strand, 24, won the physical fitness preliminary in the Miss South Carolina competition.

Maya Shenissa Lynch, Miss River City Teen, 17, won the talent preliminary in the Miss South Carolina Teen competition. She performed a vocal rendition of “His Eye is on the Sparrow.

Rebecca Robinson, Miss Heart of Greenville Teen, 16, won the evening gown preliminary in the Miss South Carolina Teen competition.
