Attempts to buy ammo while car being repossessed

A Pelzer man is facing multiple charges after an incident at the Ace Hardware store in Williamston on Aug. 1.

Michael Keith Lord, 31, 130 Colonial Dr., Pelzer was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and other charges after officers were dispatched to Ace Hardware, 29 Pelzer Ave. in reference to a car that was being towed.

According to reports, Lord was attempting to purchase ammunition for a shotgun that he had removed from a vehicle in the parking lot that was being repossessed.

While officers were at the front of the store talking with a white female who was with Lord, he exited the back door and fled.

Officers followed on foot. Reports state the officer rounded the corner of a storage building and Lord had his T-shirt up and his hands in his pocket as if he was going into his pocket for a handgun. The officer drew his weapon and told the man to place his hands where they could be seen.

The man complied with officer directions and it was determined he did not have a gun, but did have a knife.

Upon further investigation, a black bookbag was found along with a shotgun in a trash can at the front of the store.

The bookbag contained a clear plastic baggie containing a clear crystal like substance field tested positive as methamphetamine, and numerous other items.

Items found in the bag included a Garmin GPS, Cobra Radar Detector, triple lighter port, assorted cords, one large bag of a clear crystal like substance field tested positive as methamphetamine weighing aproximately 21.6 grams, three notepads, camo ball cap, Gateway laptop.

Also a white grocery bag with a Taurus Millennium 9MM handgun (found to be stolen) digital scales, cigarillos, flashlight, clear sandwich size baggie containing three round yellow pills inscribed “E” “40”, one loose white rectangular pill inscribed “GG249” one clear plastie baggie with 2 pills, three pink/purple slips of paper believed to be LSD, a 9 mm bullet and a grinder.

Also in another compartment of the backpack was a smoking pipe, two cards, a clear baggie with 11 9MM ammo and other items.

It was also found that Lord had multiple outstanding warrants.

Lord is facing charges of manufacture, possession of Schedule I,II,III with intent to distribute; possession of a controlled substance Sched. I-V; trafficking methamphetamine 10 grams or more; possession of a narcotic Schedule I(b), (c), LSD and Schedule II; possession of other controlled substance in Schedule I to V, second offense; giving false information to law enforcement, receiving stolen goods; possession of a weapons during a violent crime; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
