Accepting donations

Piedmont Emergency Relief Center, (PERC) a nonprofit food pantry located in Piedmont, will have a display table and accept dontations at the 2015 Pelzer Fall Festival being held this Saturday.

Representatives will have information on PERC’s SNAP Outreach, how to become a volunteer, how to help out this charity, and how PERC helps the community. The last few months have been particularly hard for PERC, so any food donations or monetary donations would be greatly appreciated.

Food donations such as canned Spaghetti Sauce; canned meats like Treet or Spam, beef stew, tuna, hash, or chicken; meals in one like canned ravioli, beef pasta, or spaghetti; and peanut butter and jelly or peanut butter and jelly mix are all in high demand.

Monetary donations are graciously accepted. For every $1.00 received, PERC can provide at least 4 meals for those in need. Remember, Piedmont Emergency Relief Center provides emergency food assistance for a large area encompassing three counties—Piedmont (29673), Pelzer (29669), Williamston (29697), Easley/Powdersville (29642) and Greenville (29611) areas, located in Anderson, Greenville, and Pickens counties.

Beginning on Wednesday, October 7, from 10 am-12 noon, and continuing through December, PERC will be open the second Wednesday of every month.

They will assist persons to apply for the Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), need to make phone interviews, or need PERC to copy and send documentation.

Other issues related to SNAP Benefits can be addressed as well. There will NO FOOD DISTRIBUTION on the second Wednesday of each month.

Food distributions are Mondays and Saturdays 9 am—12 noon and Tuesdays and Thursdays 4 pm—7 pm.
