Anderson School District One has twelve schools receiving Gold awards as part of the SC Department of Education 2014-2015 Palmetto Gold and Silver Winners released recently. Twelve schools earned a gold award for their student achievement, two earned gold awards for closing the achievement gap and three earned silver.
David Havird, Superintendent for Anderson One, said, “On behalf of the district and school leadership teams it is gratifying to know so many schools in Anderson School District One earned these academic performance and closing the achievement gap awards.I do believe it is a result of the students and teachers focus on continuous improvement and high expectations associated with this effort.”
Jane Harrison, Assistant Superintendent for Instruction, said, “These scores for 2014-2015 reflect outstanding performance by our students. This doesn’t happen without the hard work of our teachers and administrators. Anderson One continues to excel in the field of teaching and learning, and I am excited for the schools to be recognized.”
On the winners, State Superintendent of Education Molly M. Spearman said, “I am pleased that so many schools are being recognized for their excellent performance and closing the achievement gap,” said Spearman. “These awards are well-deserved and indicate the great strides administrators, principals, teachers, and students are making across the state. We will continue to embrace the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate to achieve educational excellence in every district,” concluded Spearman.
