On Wednesday, (Aug. 5) the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control reported 1,175 new confirmed cases and 23 new probable cases of the novel coronavirus COVID-19. DHEC also reported 45 additional confirmed deaths and 5 new probable deaths.
This brings the total number of confirmed deaths to 1,819, and 75 probable deaths.
The total number of individual test results reported to DHEC yesterday statewide was 5,679 (not including antibody tests) and the percent positive was 20.7%.
DHEC also reported the following key information:
ICU beds: 1,443 total; 311 available; 1,132 in use (78.45% utilization rate)
COVID-19 patients hospitalized: 1,469; 363 in ICU; 270 ventilated
