Alta Virginia Saylors, 82 of Pelzer, passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
Born in Pelzer, she was a daughter of the late James Perry and Merle Pack Saylors. A U.S. Army veteran, she retired from American Lifestyle Homes, and was a member of Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith.
Survivors include, sisters, Glenda Bailey of Cowpens, Diane Smith, Runette Childers, Karen Day, Varena Heatherly, and Denise McCall, all of Pelzer; and brother, Keith Saylors of Pelzer.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Gray Mortuary. A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Guthrie Grove Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith Cemetery.

Linda Blackshire
Linda Simmons Blackshire of Williamston,77, wife of the late Joseph Anthony Blackshire, Sr., passed on Tuesday, June 22, 2021.
She was a daughter of the late John Ernest and Clara Hamby Simmons. She was a member at Wren Baptist Church. She owned and worked at The Cake Bakery in Berea. She later retired from Gregory Pest Solutions.
She is survived by her three daughters, Celina Hall of Savannah, GA, Kim McGhghy of Woodruff, Stacey Fleming of Williamston, and two sons, “Jody” Blackshire, Jr. of Hickory Tavern, and Nicholas Blackshire of Louisville, KY; 20 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren with one on the way; brothers David Simmons and Terry Simmons both of Williamston, Bruce Simmons of Pelzer.
The family will receive friends 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Friday, June 25, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer with the funeral service following at 11:30 a.m. in the mortuary chapel.
Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn Owen Duncan Henderson
Carolyn Owen Duncan Henderson, of the Piercetown Community, passed from her earthly home into her Heavenly home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
She was the daughter of the late James Harold Owen and the late Eunice Smith Owen. Her husband, Vernon Henderson and her brother, Maynard Owen are also deceased.
She is survived by her son, Todd Lee Duncan, of the home and her sister, Jeanette O. Rogers (Jon) of Piedmont, SC, and three nieces, Elaine R. Walsh (Bill) of Atlanta, GA, Joni R. Foy (Keith) of Arlington, VA, and Melissa R. King (David) of Fountain Inn, SC.
Carolyn retired from Flexible Technologies of Abbeville, SC, after 35 years. She still had many friends from the Abbeville and Greenwood areas. After retiring, she moved back to the family home in Piercetown to care for her aging mother.
She was a member of Anchor Point Baptist Church of Anderson, SC.
The family received friends Saturday, June 19, 2021, from 2:00-3:00 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 3:00 pm with Rev. Gordy Craft officiating.

Thomas Clarence Poore
Thomas Clarence Poore of Mauldin, 87, son of the late Clarence and Janelle Poore, passed away on Wednesday June 8, 2021.
He was born October 14, 1933 in Williamston. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a Navy Veteran.
He was married to the late Martha Phillips Poore. He retired from JP Stevens as a manager & textile engineer.
He was a member at Mauldin First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nancy Morenz and Anne Cantey; one sister, Louise Marshall; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Entombment was June 11, at Woodlawn Remembrance Chapel.

Larry Ridgeway
Larry Walter “Pops” Ridgeway, 73 of Piedmont, husband of Patricia Ann Bice Ridgeway, passed away Monday, June 14, 2021.
Born in Greenville County, he was the son of John Walter and Curtis McCuen Ridgeway. He retired from Michelin Tire Company after 36 years. He was a member of Sandy Springs Baptist Church, Princeton Masonic Lodge #129 and a Hejaz Shriner.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Dena M. Ridgeway, Janie E. Ridgeway-Bishop (Christopher Wayne Bishop) and Mandy Simmons all of Greenville; step-son, Danny Simmons of Travelers Rest; grandchildren, Chase William Bishop and Chadley Sexton-Simmons; and step-grandchildren, Tucker Simmons, and Olivia Simmons.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2:15 pm Thursday, June 17, at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer. The service will follow at 2:30 pm in the mortuary chapel. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Michael James Howard of Honea Path, 72, husband of the late Calisse Yvette Moody Howard, passed away Friday, June 18, 2021.
Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Charles James and Ethel Irene Bagwell Howard. He retired from Ingles.
He is survived by daughter, April McCall of Easley; sons, Kerry Howard of Greenville, Shannon Howard of Pickens, and Taylor Howard of Honea Path; brother, Stanley Howard of Easley; sisters, Vickie Richbourg of Belton and Cathy Alexander of Raleigh, NC; and five grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on June 21, at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
