Body found near Highway 29 North and Belhaven Rd.

The Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office
investigated the death of a man after his body was discovered near the old
cattle barn on Highway 29 north and Belhaven road around 11 am on Friday Aug. 4.Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the location after reports of a deceased male were received by the 911 Center.
Senior Deputy Coroner Brent Simpson identified the victim and determined that the
decedent died as a result of a possible drug overdose and has been in the area for at
least a day.
The investigation indicates the decedent had recently been examined at the hospital
and released. There appears to be no indication of foul play and/or injury that suggest
other causes of death. The decedent’s name will not be released in accordance with
Coroner’s Office policy.
The investigation is on-going by the Anderson County Office of the Coroner and the
Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.
