Williamston Police officers investigated the following incidents:
Sept. 5 – Officer M. B. Jackson investigated a vehicle collision with property damage at Dollar Tree, 1 Greenville Drive and the Sav-Way at 309 East Main Street. According to the report, a 70-year-old male had a medical episode that caused him to lost control of his vehicle, leave the roadway into the Dollar Tree parking lot, causing damages to a large sign, three hedges and a large tree. Damage to the sign was estimated at $1,000; three hedges $120, tree $80. The vehicle also collided into the SavWay fuel pump safety bar where the vehicle came to an abrupt stop. The collision caused damages to the safety bar and the fuel pump’s filter in the amounts of $800 and $180. The driver was transported to the hospital by EMS.
Sept. 4 – While on the scene of a structure fire at Williamston Court, Sgt. D. R. Hart investigated a dog bite incident involving two dogs. According to reports, Officer Hart observed a black dog was being restrained by a fireman and a small white and gray dog lying on the sidewalk. The small dog was not bleeding but its stomach was swollen. The small dog was taken to a vet and had to be put down because the dogs intestinal wall had been torn. Both dog owners lived in the apartment complex that had been evacuated. The other dog owner left the scene in a gray Kia Soul that the dog had gotten out of. Sgt. Hart did locate the owner of the dog that bit the other dog, Nevada Crowe, who was cited for dog running at large. The other dog owner was fine with dismissing charges if Crowe paid for medical bills.
Sept. 4 – Natosha Ann Stone, 301 Woodland Ln, Williamston was placed on trespass notice for Dollar General, 526 West Main after officer M. B. Jackson was dispatched. No incident was reported.
Sept. 4 – Sgt. D. R. Hart responded to 7 W. Fourth St. in reference to damage to property. According to reports, an 8 pane window was broken and two walls damaged by a bullet. A brass object identified as a round from a .40 caliber handgun was found inside the house. Several neighbors reported hearing what they believed to be a single firework or a gunshot. Damage was estimated at $1,500.
Sept. 4 – Amy Blaire David Webber, 33, 1014 Levis Smith Rd., Pendleton reported items valued at $308 taken from her 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee while parked in the parking lot of Palmetto Middle School. Missing items included makeup, wallet and purse. M. B. Jackson was reporting officer. The case remains under investigation.
Sept. 2 – Randy Stead Merriotte, 57, 90 Majestic Ct., Gray Court was issued a warning summons for no insurance and defective equipment after a white UHaul van was observed on West Main St., with a broken front window. The vehicle was towed due to the condition it was in. R. C. Burgess was reporting officer.
Sept. 2 – Brenda P Rosemond, 400 Tripp St. reported 2014 Nissan Altima valued at $30,000 stolen by her daughter. The vehicle was entered into NCIC. A warrant was issued for Metti Kathryn Tarrant. The stolen vehicle was believed to be in Georgia. W. N. Crawford was reporting officer.
Sept. 3 – Merri Kathryn Tarrant was stopped in Georgia driving the stolen Nissan Altima and was taken to the jail in Smyrna, Georgia, where she was held until a Williamston officer could pick her up.
July 31 – Katie Marie Stadtmuller, 103 Jester Court reported that she was waved into the neighborhood by Anderson County Road and Bridges workers who were doing work on S. Hamilton St. The road was ripped up with a large divot in the middle of S. Hamilton. Stadtmuller ran into a six inch divot the road worker had cut causing $2,000 in damage to the bumper of her 2022 Kia K5.
