Piedmont firefighters remove the roof from a car to reach the driver and passenger Sunday night after a car struck a tree. It happened on Old Pelzer Road near Peden Road just before nine o’clock. According to troopers, the car was traveling south when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Senior Deputy Coroner Kirstine Strange identified them as Manuel Jeronimo Gregorio, 52, and Roberto Arreola, 24, both of Piedmont.
